Blacklist is a student-run journal operating out of Brandeis University. The journal publishes poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art from students across the world.
In past decades, the journal ran under the name Where the Children Play, and was restricted to submissions from Brandeis alone. Blacklist now proudly publishes work from students internationally, having featured work from India and Latvia in past issues.
Two issues of the journal are published (online and in print) every year. Blacklist seeks to publish work with complex narratives, shifting aspects of everyday life into new a perspective. It is our goal to provide a comprehensive portrait of the world of young artists and writers from all walks of life.
It is also our goal to be an accessible literary journal. Each piece that is submitted to us is read and carefully considered. We highly encourage those who have never had their work published to submit— we’d love to be your first.
